Cigna's ACA exit · Georgia · all 159 counties, computed from state filings

Cigna is leaving Georgia's marketplace.

Cigna is exiting the ACA individual market in 11 states for 2027, Georgia included — ~35,000 Georgians per Cigna's disclosure (as of spring 2025). Coverage ends December 31, 2026, and every one of them has to pick a new 2027 plan. This page is the county-level answer: the deadline math, what happens if you do nothing, and what your county's alternatives cost.

What happens if you do nothing.

If you do nothing, Georgia Access will generally map you into a different insurer's plan matched on metal level and network type — the default hierarchy doesn't compute your 12-month cost, though the state may deviate to consider cost sharing or premiums. Either way, nobody computes your total. Compare every option in your county before December 15.

A mapped plan is a starting point, not a decision. The plan you're mapped into can carry a different deductible, a different drug list, and a different doctor network than the Cigna plan you chose — and whether it's the cheapest way through your actual year is exactly the arithmetic nobody runs by default. That arithmetic is what the table below and the tools on this page exist for.

Your county's alternatives, priced.

"Cheapest plan" is the lowest-premium filed 2026 plan for a 40-year-old, unsubsidized — today's baseline, spanning $371–$574/mo across the state. 2027 rates are proposed (+20.7% statewide average), not final, and 2027 lineups change: Cigna's plans leave and Antidote Health enters. "Cost of premium-shopping" is the median annual amount the lowest-premium pick loses to the true-cost pick across nine care profiles and three ages (90th percentile in parentheses) — the number that stays in your control however the final rates land.

When the cheapest replacement is right — and when it isn't.

The honest shape of our own evidence: if your year is a healthy, low-utilization one, the cheapest plan may well be right — for a routine year with no regular care, the lowest-premium pick is essentially always the lowest-cost pick too. The cost of picking by premium concentrates where care is regular: ongoing prescriptions, a managed condition, therapy, specialty care. That's why this page shows the premium-shopping cost next to the premium — replacing a plan you were mapped out of is the moment to check which situation you're in, not to guess.

The questions Cigna members are asking.

What happens to my Cigna marketplace plan in Georgia?

It ends December 31, 2026. Cigna is exiting the ACA individual market in 11 states for 2027, Georgia among them — roughly 35,000 Georgians are affected per Cigna's disclosure (as of spring 2025). Your coverage runs normally through the end of 2026; for January 1, 2027 you need a plan from a different insurer.

What happens if I do nothing?

If you do nothing, Georgia Access will generally map you into a different insurer's plan matched on metal level and network type — the default hierarchy doesn't compute your 12-month cost, though the state may deviate to consider cost sharing or premiums. Either way, nobody computes your total. Compare every option in your county before December 15.

When do I need to act?

Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027. The date that matters most is December 15, 2026: enroll by then and your new plan starts January 1, the day after Cigna coverage ends — no gap. Enroll after December 15 and coverage generally starts February 1, leaving January uncovered unless you qualify for something else.

Will my replacement plan cost more?

Georgia's 2027 rate picture isn't final: state filings propose a 20.7% statewide average increase — proposed, not final; regulators finalize this fall. What's knowable today is the baseline: the cheapest filed 2026 plan for a 40-year-old runs $371–$574 a month across Georgia's 159 counties, unsubsidized. The part you control regardless of what regulators approve is how you pick: premium-only shopping already costs a median $556 a year in the average county versus picking on 12-month cost.

Is the cheapest replacement plan the right choice?

Often — if your year is a healthy, low-utilization one, the cheapest plan may well be right, and our own evidence says so. The cost of premium-only shopping concentrates where care is regular: managed conditions, ongoing prescriptions, therapy. In the hardest-hit county (Atkinson), the median cost of picking by premium alone runs $1,601 a year. The fix isn't a rule of thumb — it's pricing your actual year against every plan in your county.

Which insurers will offer plans in my county for 2027?

Final 2027 lineups publish before Open Enrollment opens November 1. What's known now: Cigna leaves, and Antidote Health enters Georgia's market for 2027. The table on this page shows how many plans were filed in your county for 2026 as a baseline — the 2027 lineup will differ, which is exactly why an active comparison beats being mapped by default.
